A son of deceased al-Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden has been officially added to the U.S. counter-terrorism blacklist, a move that bars U.S. citizens from doing business with them, the State Department said. The State and Treasury departments on Thursday, said they had designated Hamza bin Laden and Ibrahim al-Banna, a senior leader of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula as global terrorists. Hamza, who is now in his twenties was named an official member of al-Qaeda in 2015 by senior leader Ayman al-Zawahiri and is seen as a possible successor to his father. Hamza is Bin Laden's child with and Khairiah Sabar, one of the wives who was captured during the 2011 raid on his Abbotabad compound in Pakistan. An undergraduate, identified as Olusoji Thompson has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command for allegedly killing his 86-year-old father, High Chief Clifford Olumekun with an axe. The suspect allegedly carried out the dastardly act at the deceased’s residence at No 1, Okeraye Street, Idepe in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Femi Joseph who disclosed the incident told Daily Post on Friday that the suspect has been detained at the State Criminal Investigative Department of the command for further investigation. He said the reason the suspect’s action is yet unknown at the time of this report but insisted that he (suspect) was still under interrogation. He said, ” The incident happened on January 2, 2017 and we have arrested the suspect. Arik airline has released a statement condemning the attack on one of its managers by angry passengers at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport two days ago. In a statement signed by its Communications Manager, Ola Adebanji, the airline said the verbal and physical attack on its staff and the destruction of some of its properties by frustrated passengers, is unacceptable and will be legally addressed. According to Adebanji, trouble started when the airline’s Lagos-New York flight was rescheduled from Wednesday to Thursday due to the shortage of aviation fuel. Gambian President Yahya Jammeh has hired mercenaries in preparation for war as he promised not to step down after losing last month's election.
