Telephone leak: Governor Wike and Fayose discuss rigging Rivers rerun (Audio tape)

- An audio tape of a telephone conversation between Wike and Fayose has surfaced
- In the leaked telephone conversation, they were reportedly discussing rigging the Rivers rerun
- No official statement has been released by either governor
The Rivers rerun election has once again surfaced in the news, and this time, an audio tape has been released by Sahara Reporters, which reportedly contains evidence that both governors rigged the elections and were mocking the Nigerian army.
In the telephone conversation between Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state and Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state both men can be heard discussing how Wike allegedly rigged the December 10, 2016 rerun of legislative elections in Rivers.
This is not the first time an audio tape that is reportedly Wike's has surfaced online. Previously, a telephone conversation obtained and released by Sahara Reporters allegedly portrayed WIke discussing with an INEC official whom he had bribed.
Governor Wike however denied the audio tape, saying that it was fabricated evidence.
Earlier, Nyesom Wike had alleged that security agencies planned to make Rivers state ungovernable during the December 10 Rivers-rerun election for political reasons.
Wike said the security agencies planned to achieve this by causing violence during the poll. The governor made the accusation while speaking at an address to members of the Rivers state traditional rulers council who paid him a Christmas visit on Tuesday, December 27.
You can listen to the audio tape here.
