New images of President Muhammadu Buhari on vacation in London has emerged. The photos were posted on Facebook Friday night by a user, Buhari Sallau. The caption he put on the photos reads: “Today in London President Muhammadu Buhari with some guests, among them Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun…. yet, Some Haters are saying the President is dead or sick in hospital”. The pictures are, however, yet to be confirmed by presidency sources.

Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Femi Adesina has revealed the day his principal will return. This is as he described the growing tension over the health of the president as “purely unnecessary”. Adesina also disclosed that Buhari is expected back into the country on February 6th. The Ondo State House of Assembly Paymaster was on Friday caught with a ‘Ghana-Must-Go’ bag loaded with money. The money, which is causing ripples among members of the State House of Assembly, is said to be about N15m. When confronted, the paymaster said he was acting on the instruction of the suspended speaker, Princess Jumoke Akindele, who ordered him to bring the money to her residence.

Fourteen out of the twenty-six Ondo State House of Assembly lawmakers on Friday evening sacked their speaker, Rt. Hon. Jumoke Akindele over alleged N15million naira fraud. Acting Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu, has said that corrupt tendencies were more pronounced among males than females. “Looking at the number of people that have been apprehended by the commission, the number of men involved outnumber the women,” Magu said on Friday, in Abuja, The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that Magu made the statement when the executive committee of the National Council of Women Society (NCWS), paid him a courtesy visit. He said, however, that women were not pure or immune to greed, but that were only less corrupt. Magu described women as nation builders, stressing that their roles in ensuring the right societal values could never be over-emphasized. The EFCC boss stressed the need for collaboration between the commission and NCWS in the fight against corruption. Nigeria's Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu, has described some politicians, who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to All Progressives Congress, APC, as hungry peoples saying it was motivated business interest. Ekweremadu stated this at the expanded caucus meeting of the party in Abuja. Among those present at the meeting, yesterday, were members of the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the party, former and serving governors, former and serving members of the National Assembly, among other senior party chieftains. Yesterday was the largest gathering of party stakeholders under one roof since the crisis that engulfed the party in 2016. Ekweremadu, who was reacting to the recent defection of some PDP senators, said the action of the three lawmakers had not in any way affected the numerical strength of the party.

U.S. President Donald Trump will not be made an honorary citizen of the small German town from where his grandparents emigrated, the town’s mayor, Thomas Jaworek, said on Friday after a council meeting. Councillors in Kallstadt, the quaint village in Germany’s wine-making Rheinland region that was home to Mr. Trump’s grandparents, had been presented with a proposal to honour the newly inaugurated president. The town’s councillors did not address the Trump proposal directly at the meeting, but instead reaffirmed their position that the town does not hand out honorary citizenships. A Port Harcourt High Court has discharged and acquitted five persons facing trial in the murder case of four undergraduate students of the University of Port Harcourt, popularly called Aluu 4, in 2012. The court freed them after the director of Public Prosecution filed a submission of no case on the five persons to the court saying they have no case to answer in the matter. Some of the discharged inmates include the traditional ruler in Aluu community, Alhaji Hassan Welewa, Lawal Segun, Okoghiroh Endurance, Ozioma Abajuo and Chigozie Evans Samuel. The remaining seven accused persons area still facing trial and the matter has been adjourned to February 9.
